More Than Just Numbers. People Working With People.
In traditional accounting, the focus often shifts solely to the data, forgetting the human element behind the business. At NFS, we believe true value comes from understanding the team behind the technology.
We are not just tax processors; we are strategic partners. Whether we are acting as a white-label extension of a CPA firm or working directly with a technical founder, our goal is to elevate your team’s capabilities. We bring the specialized expertise of a large firm with the personalized, proactive attention of a boutique consultancy.
Proactive Consulting: We don't just look backward at what you spent; we help you plan for future growth.
Tailored Strategies: Every business is unique. We customize our tax strategies to align with your specific investment goals.
Seamless Integration: For our CPA partners, we integrate invisibly into your workflow, respecting client confidentiality and enhancing your service offerings.

Leadership
Khai Nguyen, Director of Tax – Credits & Incentives
Khai leads the NFS team with a focus on uncovering untapped tax benefits for small to mid-sized businesses. With deep expertise in federal and state tax codes, he specializes in bridging the gap between complex technical operations and financial compliance.
Khai’s approach is built on "Discovery to Closing"—ensuring that every credit claimed is not only maximized but fully substantiated and audit-ready. He has successfully guided clients in Manufacturing, Software, and Aerospace through the complexities of the R&D Tax Credit, helping them recoup millions in available capital to reinvest in their innovation.
Khai Nguyen is the founder of a boutique R&D tax credit consulting firm with over 16 years of experience advising companies on R&D tax credits and other federal and state tax incentives. As an Enrolled Agent and tax professional, Khai specializes in federal and state R&D tax credits, Section 174 R&E treatment, and complex multi-year amendment strategies.
His experience spans a wide range of industries—including technology, manufacturing, construction, and advanced materials—where he works closely with engineers, founders, and CFOs to translate technical development activities into defensible, audit-ready tax positions. Khai is known for his rigorous documentation standards, practical understanding of IRS scrutiny, and ability to align technical narratives with tax compliance requirements.
Based in California, Khai works with clients nationwide and frequently collaborates with CPAs, attorneys, and other advisors to ensure credits and incentives are claimed accurately, conservatively, and with long-term compliance in mind.
